Patrick Will with Alena Starostina & Ivan Nikolaev | Earthworks V

Patrick Will takes an in-depth look at the stinging nettle. He confronts the stigma of the weed with seriousness and botanical care, creating credible and multi-perspective references to the plant in industry, the culinary arts, medicine, music and art history. Using artistic means, he succeeds in creating a seriousness and attention for the apparent weed without artificially exaggerating it.
In walks, workshops and lectures, he presents the manifold connections between humans and nettles. Most recently, he focussed on nettles in the Chemnitz region.

For the earthworks, the Weed Information Centre, which he initiated and runs, conducts investigative research to uncover the means used by federal states and local authorities to implement a horticultural image that stands against botanical diversity and for the exclusion of some plant species.
