Eva Olivin & Robert Verch | There’s a lot to do – let’s get going.
Abandoned shortly after reunification - forgotten for 20 years - the fate of its occupant suppressed. Insights into the fully furnished, untouched private rooms of Mr U seem like a journey through time. What could be the reason for leaving a flat like this?
For three days and nights, a professional investigation station with extensive possibilities for remote-controlled camera observation challenged visitors to negotiate their own curiosity and sympathy along the fine line between voyeurism and the invasion of others' privacy. Eva Olivin and Robert Verch use the events of that real-life laboratory as artistic material. The exhibition interweaves the traces of the trackers with the artists' perspective on the social and political dimensions of this hidden biography - and its collision with surveillance and pseudo-public interest.
